Shepherds in the Desert
Just before Christmas we held an intimate event in the desert to celebrate the festive season. It was a relaxing day for the parents as children played in the dunes and enjoyed camel rides and henna painting. Adults settled on the Arabic cushions and there was plenty of time for conversation and enjoyment of the sumptuous BBQ and the entertainment of a nativity play, carols and music. All against the stunning backdrop of the Arabian desert.
Carols were sung along to and accompanied by music teachers from BSAK and talented children on their instruments. We even had a piano.
Henna was provided by two local ladies in one of our traditional Bedouin tents, lit by lanterns and furnished with traditional cushions and carpets
Our camel happily walked around the Bedouin Camp and later starred in our nativity play
Although it was possible that Santa was the real star of the show.
Springbok provided our bottomless BBQ
It was an exciting day for our younger guests. Sand angels, marshmallows at the campfire, digging holes, sand boarding and football.
And as the sun went down the fun continued.
A selection of other photos from the event.
